John Henry Hutto b. 26 May, 1753 (son of Charles Hutto). Despite some DAR
applications and what was published in "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia", the
evidence leans toward this John Henry Hutto b. 26 May, 1753 (son of Charles
Hutto) as being the Henry Hutto that moved to Georgia and dyed there after
1833.
The Henry Hutto that married Ann Zorn appears to have been the son of Peter
Hutto and was christened on 25 Dec 1752. He later died 24 Oct 1817 while
still in South Carolina." This other scenario, is published in other places
such as Barnwell County Records Vol.XIV, compiled by the Mannings. REF msg
dated 26 Nov 1996 Fred Hutto. Msg 15 Mar 1997
Quoting from a letter to Mr. Folks Huxford from A. Dickson Hutto 8 Jul 1974
"... On the parentage of Henry Hutto, Vol II, page 158, shown as Charles and
Ann Tshudy (Judy) Hutto - another source (a Mr. Walker Murray in Greenville,
SC) whom I am also checking with, shows this Henry (dying in Barnwell
County, SC in 1817) as the son of Peter and Margaret Barbara Shuler Hutto.
We know from Giessendanner's Record that both Charles and Peter had a son
Henry, born within two years of each other.
One Henry settled in Barnwell and died there in 1817, the other according to
his Revolutionary War pension application, moved to Georgia about 1817, and
it is reported died there about 1833-35. The application was made in 1831. I
have found no mention of Peter after the birth of his son Martin April 1,
1755, in the Geissendanner Record - no land grant, deed, church record,
anything. Charles, the father of the other Henry, received a land grant in
1762 in the Four Holes swamp section a few miles east of the town of
Orangeburg, and appears in land transactions east of Orangeburg one or two
other times. The original Isaac Hutto (1695 - 1752) land grant was six miles
west of Orangeburg.
The Henry Hutto moving to Georgia also appears in the area east of
Orangeburg, in 1788 where he signed a petition for a Lutheran Church. The
signature is clearly the same as one on an audited account signed by the RS
Henry Hutto. Also the pension application lists the service identical to
that attributable to a Henry Hutto from the revolutionary War Records -
indicating all the service was that of the Henry in Georgia, and none for
the Henry in Barnwell. So to sum that up, the Henry of Georgia was from east
of Orangeburg in the same vicinity as Charles: the Henry of Barnwell settled
to the southwest of Orangeburg in the Salkehatchie River area, and there is
no record of any war service by him. It would appear that Henry of [Georgia}
was Charles' son, Henry of Barnwell Peter's son, there being no other
evidence." Quoting from a letter to Mr. J. Walker Murray from A. Dickson
Hutto 8 Nov 1977 - "...
On the subject of Henry Hutto of Barnwell who died in 1817, I have spent
considerable effort trying to sort him out from his first cousin, Henry
Hutto who died in Georgia after 1833. They were both born within a year or
so; Henry, son of Peter and Margaret Barbara Shuler Hutto, baptized
12/25/1752; and Henry, son of Charles and Ann Judy Hutto, born 5/25/1753 -
his full name was John Henry Hutto. You indicate, as do others, that Henry
of Barnwell, died 1817, is the son of Peter; others, including Folks Huxford
of Georgia say he was the son of Charles; I say I don't know. Formerly, I
agreed with you because Peter disappeared after Geissendanner's record, but
the names Peter and Martin turned up in later generations in Georgia, and I
assumed Peter's family had drifted south or southwest from Orangeburg;
whereas Charles had moved to the east of Orangeburg, where a Henry appeared
in 1788, signing a petetion for a church, the same signature that appeared
on a Revolutionary War receipt about the same time. The Revolutionary War
records of the two Henries are not easily distinguishable - as a matter of
fact I suspected for a while that Henry of Barnwell was not a RS - but was
assumed to have been by mistake - at other times, I suspected then Henry in
Georgia filed a bogus pension application on his cousins service record. One
of them served with the British for six months, and also signed a loyalty
oath with the Board of Police in Charleston in 1780, or 1781. The signer of
the loyalty oath would have to be Henry of Georgia (he left SC in 1817) for
he was taken prisoner according to his pension application and was in
Charleston about the time the oath was signed, but the one that served along
with several other Huttos with the British in 1780, might have been either
one..."

* 8. Benjamin Hutto born AFT FEB 1739, Orangeburgh, South Carolina,

died AFT 1793. Land Rocky Swamp, Giddy Swamp [Wagener,SC]. Son,

Benjamin, the youngest son of Isaac the first and Maria Catherina, was
probably born soon after Isaac, Jr., for Maria Catherina's child bearing
years would be running out.
Benjamin moved westward (SC), and there is an indication that he received
land near Rocky Swamp. This would have located him in the vicinity with his
brother Isaac and his sister Sarah Varnedoe.
The appearance of a Henry Mill, Jr., in this same area raises the
possibility that Henry Mell and Maria Catherina also moved to the Rocky
Swamp Section.
Benjamin received a grant in 1787 on Giddy Swamp, a few miles further west
and now part of Aiken County, on the eastern outskirts of Wagener.
A Benjamin who died during the Rev.War was probably his son, and a later
"Benjamin Jr." his grandson.

John Henry Hutto b. 26 May, 1753 (son of Charles Hutto).
Despite some DAR applications and what was published in "Pioneers of
Wiregrass Georgia", the evidence leans toward John Henry Hutto b. 26 May,
1753 (son of Charles Hutto) as being the Henry Hutto that moved to Georgia
and dyed there after 1833. The Henry Hutto that married Ann Zorn appears to
have been the son of Peter Hutto and was christened on 25 Dec 1752. He later
died 24 Oct 1817 while still in South Carolina." This other scenario, is
published in other places such as Barnwell County Records Vol XIV, compiled
by the Mannings. REF msg dated 26 Nov 1996 fm FredH
