“Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.”
1 John 2:18 NIV ©

John’s use of “dear children” refers to his fatherly authority and affection and also addresses the importance of the subject matter that follows. The “last hour” refers to the period of time before Christ’s return and the world passes away. During this time, no matter how long it lasts, many people will be against Jesus Christ. These “antichrists” will oppose Christ and His teachings. They will try to change, corrupt, or destroy what Jesus did and taught. Some will even claim to be Christ, trying to usurp His authority.

Lord Jesus, there are so many today that teach false doctrines and lies as truth. Help me to be discerning and to judge everything by the truth found only in Your Word, the Bible.
