"But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth."
1 John 2:20
NIV ©
True believers have been given the Holy Spirit to teach them the truth. Old Testament prophets, kings, and priests were anointed with oil to show that God’s Spirit was with them, would guide them, and would help them to do their task. In much the same way, those who trust in Jesus, the Holy One, the Anointed One, the Christ, have the Holy Spirit in them to guide them and to help them know Jesus, the truth. These true, anointed believers are contrasted against those antichrists who do not know the truth and who teach falsehoods and lies.
Lord Jesus, I am thankful for the leading and teaching of the Holy Spirit in my life. Help me to always be aware and follow Your leading.
