“The one who says he is in the light but hates his brother is in the darkness until now.”
1 John 2:9
HCSB ©
The person who claims to know the light of God, and yet habitually hates his brother, is not in the light of God. This hate is not a dislike of or an objection to a brother’s mannerisms, habits, actions, and attitude, but is a contemptible, malicious, and unjustified rage toward a brother. This hatred is deeply rooted and entrenched in the person’s life, becoming part of the person’s character. This person’s moral and spiritual life is filled with the darkness of sin and not the light of God.
Lord Jesus, I desire my life to be filled with Your light and love. Let me show Your love by my attitude and actions toward my brothers.
