Love Provides Assurance

“We shall know by this that we are of the truth, and shall assure our heart before Him,”
1 John 3:19 NASB ©

When we put love into action by doing deeds of compassion with true motives of sharing the love of Christ to others, then we know that we are living in God’s truth. “We shall know” expresses a knowledge gained by experience. We are certain that we are abiding in God’s love and have eternal life because God’s love is motivating us to action. We have assurance of our commitment to Christ and our relationship with God when that commitment leads to a lifestyle of deeds motivated by love.

Lord Jesus, fill my heart with Your great love, and let that love overflow to others. Let my life be a demonstration of Your sacrificial love.
