The Spirit Testifies

“They inquired into what time or what circumstances the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when He testified in advance to the messianic sufferings and the glories that would follow.”
   1 Peter 1:11 HCSB ©

The Old Testament prophets searched for more details concerning the Messiah’s suffering and His glory that followed. They yearned to know more, yet the Holy Spirit only gave them so much information. It was the Holy Spirit that spoke to them before Jesus came. He told them how Jesus would suffer on the cross to pay for sin and how Jesus would be glorified through His resurrection from the dead and ultimate victory over evil. This same Holy Spirit continues to direct believers, teaching us about Jesus and His glory.

Lord Jesus, I too yearn to know more of You and Your Word. Help me to be sensitive to the leading of Your Holy Spirit as He guides me to a deeper walk with You.
