Remain True

“Anyone who does not remain in the teaching about Christ, but goes beyond it, does not have God. The one who remains in that teaching, this one has both the Father and the Son.”
   2 John 9 HCSB ©

John is warning about false teachers who spout a little truth mixed with much falsehood. These false teachers teach as if they have more knowledge than the Bible. They teach a little about Jesus but claim to have more and newer, progressive insights. They go beyond the teachings about Jesus found in the Word. In truth, these false teachers do not know God the Father nor God the Son. To reject Jesus is to reject God. Only those who remain true to the simple gospel message of Jesus, God’s Son, who came to save us from our sins, these will have fellowship with God the Father and God the Son.

Lord Jesus, You are the truth and the only way to heaven. Help me to learn what is right and stand firm on the truths found in Your Word, the Bible.
