How should one talk? What kinds of words should come out of a believer’s mouth? One’s spoken words, thoughts, and deeds ought to be consistent with one’s beliefs. A believer’s speech should be wholesome and good. It should be loving and gracious, doing good to those who hear it. As salt preserves and makes food tasty, the believer’s speech must be palatable to those who hear it. The believer should be ready to give a positive verbal witness about Jesus and His gift salvation by grace to the nonbeliever.

Lord Jesus, help my words to be appropriate and interesting to those to whom I speak. Help me to speak a word of witness about You to someone today.
