The Cross

“They took Jesus therefore, and He went out, bearing His own cross, to the place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha. There they crucified Him, and with Him two other men, one on either side, and Jesus in between."
John 19:17-18
NASB ©
Jesus suffered an anguishing, horrible, torturous death by crucifixion. After having been severely beaten, He was placed on a wooden cross to die one of the most excruciating, painful deaths mankind has ever devised. Yet, the physical pain represented only a small part of what He suffered on Calvary’s cross. Spiritually, He who knew no sin became sin for us. He took the punishment for the sin of all mankind. His sacrifice created the only way for us to be reconciled with God.
Lord Jesus, I am awestruck at what You did for me on the cross. Because of You, I can live each day in a right relationship with God.
